ion Refinement for Games with Incomplete Information∗ Rayna Dimitrova, Bernd Finkbeiner Universität des Saarlandes {dimitrova,finkbeiner}@cs.uni-sb.de ABSTRACT.Counterexample-guided abstraction refinement (CEGAR) is used in automated software analysis to find suitable finite-state abstractions of infinite-state systems. In this paper, we extend CEGAR to games with incomplete information, as they commonly occur in controller synthesis and modular verification. The challenge is that, under incomplete information, one must carefully account for the knowledge available to the player: the strategy must not depend on information the player cannot see. We propose an abstraction mechanism for games under incomplete information that incorporates the approximation of the players’ moves into a knowledge-based subset construction on the abstract state space. This abstraction results in a perfect-information game over a finite graph. The concretizability of abstract strategies can be encoded as the satisfiability of strategy-tree formulas. Based on this encoding, we present an interpolation-based approach for selecting new predicates and provide sufficient conditions for the termination of the resulting refinement loop.Counterexample-guided abstraction refinement (CEGAR) is used in automated software analysis to find suitable finite-state abstractions of infinite-state systems. Rationalization and Incomplete Information∗

We analyze a family of extensive-form solution procedures for games with incomplete information that do not require the specification of an epistemic type space à la Harsanyi, but can accommodate a (commonly known) collection of explicit restrictions ∆ on first-order beliefs. For any fixed ∆ we obtain a solution called ∆-rationalizability. In static games, ∆-rationalizability characterizes the ...

Robust Equilibria of Potential Games

Potential games are games with potential functions. Technically, the potential function defines a refinement concept. We provide justification for this refinement concept using the notion of robustness of equilibria. A Nash equilibrium of a complete information game is said to be robust if every incomplete information game where payoffs are almost always given by the complete information game h...

Game Refinement Theory and Multiplayer Games: Case Study Using UNO

Game refinement theory has started to provide some interesting tools to measure sophistication of board games, sport games, and video games. In this paper, we apply game refinement theory to UNO R © card game, from which we identify valuable aspects regarding multiplayer and incomplete information game. Specifically, we analyze game refinement value zone of UNO and reveal recommended number of ...
